Book Editing

Book Editing is for authors who require their raw material transformed to improve clarity and remove all the mistakes and inconsistencies that can distract readers.

Book Editing performs the following tasks:

  • corrects grammar, punctuation, spelling and typographical errors
  • eliminates wordiness, awkward phrasing and redundancies
  • ensures there is clarity in your writing
  • ensures consistency of style and the manuscript is appropriate for the target audience
  • improves sentence structure and word choice
  • matches the writing to the genre and target audience
  • substitutes weak words, phrases, and sentences with powerful alternatives
  • examines the plot and highlights inconsistencies
  • picks up inconsistencies in characterisation. If your hero is called John on one page and David on another or if your heroine's hair is described as "dark as night" and later as "honey", I pick up these kind of mistakes and highlight them.

Manuscript Critique is for authors who want someone to read their work, whether it is a book, play, poetry, and give a fair critique of their work in terms of characters, structure, plot, dialogue and audience.
